A Small Boat Out of Kos
Gulet My Lover is a 27 metre boat working out of Kos, in the Greek Dodecanese. Five cabins for ten guests, a crew of four, built in 2020 and refitted in 2023. She is one of the newer small gulets on either side of this border, and starting from Kos rather than Bodrum opens a different set of islands.
What a Week on Board Feels Like
A ten guest boat is a close holiday rather than a grand one, and for a lot of people that is the point. Everyone eats at the same table, the captain knows your name by the second day, and a 27 metre hull gets into coves that larger boats have to anchor outside of.
Kos itself is worth the start. The Asklepion sits above the town, the harbour is a working one rather than a resort, and the islands around it, Kalymnos, Pserimos, Nisyros, are close enough to reach without long days under engine. Mornings tend to go the same way: coffee on deck, an hour across flat water, then a bay for swimming until the heat drops.
Evenings are quiet on a boat this size. The generator holds the air conditioning through the night, dinner is whatever the chef found in the market that morning, and in a Dodecanese anchorage with no road behind it, the dark is total.
Five Cabins for Ten Guests
Ten guests across five cabins, each with an en suite bathroom and its own air conditioning. On a 2020 hull the cabins are properly finished rather than made over, and the layout suits two families sharing or five couples who would rather a smaller, newer boat than an older, larger one. There is a sundeck, a swim platform and water sports gear aboard.
Where She Cruises
From Kos the Dodecanese opens in every direction, and the Turkish coast around Bodrum and Datca is close if you want to cross. Clearance between the two is straightforward but needs arranging in advance.
Our guide to sailing from Turkey to Greece sets out how the crossing works. If you would rather start on the Turkish side, a Bodrum to Greek islands route covers the same waters from the other direction. In the same class, Gulet Zephyria 2 is a 34.5 metre for twelve out of Bodrum. For the island’s own history, the Asklepion at Kos is the place to read up before you go.
